EDGE JOINS FORCES WITH AMAZON WEB SERVICES TO PROVIDE DIRECT CONNECTION WITH NEW JERSEY SCHOOLS
Edge, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), cemented a new alliance that allows direct physical connection between the Edge statewide optical fiber research and education network and AWS. Edge members can now leverage existing Edge connections, or create new ones, to use AWS Direct Connect at a significantly reduced expense.
BENEFITS OF ALLIANCE
The Edge/AWS connection represents a significant milestone for Edge and its members across all supported industries including education, healthcare, the public service sector and the non-profit service sector. Members will enjoy the following benefits:
- Faculty and students at Edge member schools now have direct access to AWS tools and services for educational purposes.
- Members can use AWS to accelerate cloud-related learning endeavors and research initiatives.
- Reduction in strain placed on IT resources, which will empower member companies to innovate in their core capacities.
- Enhanced Edge member user experience.
AN ALLIANCE THAT SERVES UNDERSERVED AND DISADVANTAGED POPULATIONS
The availability of cloud computing and artificial intelligence technologies will greatly benefit students and educators in New Jersey particularly those from underserved and disadvantaged populations. Underserved segments of the student and educator population will now receive cost-effective access to AWS’s advanced compute and storage infrastructure via Edge’s high-performance, research and education network.
